Inferno Snare the Kingfish
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Justin Morrison and Rejean Stringer each
notched a goal and an assist to help the Columbia Inferno down the Baton Rouge
Kingfish, 4-2. Morrison, who leads the team with nine goals, scored the
game-winner just 33 seconds in the second period and assisted on a power-play
tally for Stringer 8:04 into the third. Denis Martynyuk opened the scoring
midway through the first and Corey Hessler added another goal, with Stringer and
Martynyuk assisting, 4:11 later for Columbia,
which improved to 4-1-0 when scoring first. Patrick Couture made 22 stops,
including 17 of the final 18 shots he faced, to earn the win for the Inferno.
Jason Norrie assisted on a goal by
Clark Jones with 1:36 remaining in the first and notched another helper on a
goal by Marquis Mathieu for Baton Rouge, which is winless in its last five games
(0-4-1). Jeff Blair allowed four
goals on 38 shots to take the loss for the Kingfish.
