Sea Wolves down Fish 4-1
Baton Rouge Kingfish Press Release
The Baton Rouge Kingfish jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on the Mississippi Sea
Wolves but could not hold on to the lead as they fell 4-1 in Mississippi.
Clark Jones gave the Kingfish the 1-0 lead on the power play as he beat Greg
Gardner at the 11:24 mark of the first period. Ryan Trsek took a pass from Wes
Scanzano to set up Jones on the power play.
Mississippi cut into the Kingfish lead on the power play at the 4:34 mark of the
second as Jim Baxter beat Jeff Blair to tie the game at 1-1. Cody Botwell and
Steffon Walby added the assists.
Mississippi took a 2-1 lead to the locker room after two periods as Cody Botwell
beat Blair for the Sea Wolves only even strength goal of the contest. Jason
Crain and Josh Bennett added the assists.
Mississippi opened up a two-goal lead in the third as Botwell added his second
of the night at the 3:39 mark of the third period. Darryl Campbell and Walby
added the assists on the power play goal.
Steffon Walby gave the Sea Wolves the 4-1 lead as the shot beat Blair with just
50 seconds remaining in the third period to ice the contest. Baxter and Dave
Paradise added the assists.
Jeff Blair falls to 1-3-0 on the season as he made 28 saves in the losing effort
for the Kingfish.
Special teams played a big role in the contest as Mississippi went 3-6 on the
man advantage while the only Baton Rouge goal came on the power play.
The Kingfish travel to Pensacola to battle the Ice Pilots on Friday. Catch all

SEA WOLVES CROWN KINGFISH, 4-1
Bowtell pots pair, Baxter and Walby also deposit goals for Sea Wolves
BILOXI, Miss. – On ‘Trick or Treat Night’, it was the Mississippi Sea Wolves
supplying the treat as they defeated the Baton Rouge Kingfish 4-1 at the
Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
It was the third straight game, Mississippi (6-2-0) rallied from behind. On this
night, it was just a one-goal deficit, as Baton Rouge (3-5-0) drops its third
game to the Sea Wolves this season.
Clark Jones opened the score with the man advantage in the first period, beating
Greg Gardner at 11:24. Jones fifth of the year, made it 1-0 for the Kingfish
after 20 minutes.
Mississippi got on the board with a power play of their own in the second.
Defenseman Jim Baxter was playing in deep, he deposited his third of the year
past Jeff Blair, tying it 1-1. Then at 16:39, Cody Bowtell tallied his fifth of
the season, giving the Sea Wolves a 2-1 lead after two.
The Sea Wolves made the power play click again in the third. Bowtell’s centering
pass went off a Kingfish defender, past Blair, making it 3-1 Mississippi. Then
with 50 seconds remaining Steffon Walby cashed in with the man advantage,
capping the scoring. It was Walby’s fifth goal on the campaign. He also had two
assists in the Sea Wolves victory.
The game was a rough one. There were a total of six fighting majors. Most
notable, was the fight between the Sea Wolves Stu Pietersma and Kingfish Jason
Norrie. Both players exchanged bigtime punches in the heavyweight bout, with the
edge going to Pietersma.
Gardner (6-2-0) turned away 30 of 31 shots. Blair (1-3-0) took the loss, making
28 stops on 32 shots.
Mississippi went 3 for 6 with the man advantage. While Baton Rouge converted on
1 of 5 power play opportunities.
Worth Noting: East Coast Hockey League President / CEO Brian McKenna was on hand
to take in the game.
