SOLID TEAM EFFORT KEEP FISH CLOSE TO PLAYOFF SPOT
The Kingfish snapped a miserable eight game
winless streak with three big wins this week. Kingfish captain Cam Brown
playing his best hockey of the season along with line mates Andy Doktorchik and
Forrest Gore combined for 16 points in the three victories (two vs.
Mississippi, Greenville). Goaltender Paxton Schafer was playing up to All-Star
caliber in securing all three wins to raise his record to 17-10-7. Centerman
Mike Rucinski scored a goal in each game this weekend to up his total to a
career high 29 (Kingfish goal scoring record is 32). The Fish now sit in 12th
spot just two points behind 10th place Mississippi with three games
in hand. The Kingfish now hit the road this week for three games.

Final regular season meeting…with the Fish going 5-2-2 to date. Mike Rucinski has eight goals in eight games vs. the Brass this season. Brass forwards Martin Bartek and Adam Edinger each have seven goals against the Fish.

Bulls All-Star forward Edouard Pershin has five points vs. the Fish in two meetings. Veteran forward Jamey Hicks leads Birmingham in scoring with 71 points. Bulls goaltender Ryan Hoople recorded three assists in one game last week.

The line of Andy Doktorchik, Forrest Gore and Cam Brown combined for eight points to snap the longest winless drought of the season at eight games. Goaltender Paxton Schafer kicked out 28 of the 29 shots he faced.
3/9 Kingfish 3 vs. Grrrowl 1
Greenville’s only visit to Baton Rouge during the regular
season was tarnished by a solid performance by Schafer. Forrest Gore sealed the
victory with an extra effort play in the closing seconds.
3/10 Kingfish 4 vs. Sea Wolves 3
Andy Doktorchik’s first career two goal game sparked the Kingfish. Shane Calder blasted the the decisive goal mid way through the second period. Rookie defenseman Kris Mallette chipped in two assists.
