Baton Rouge Kingfish All-Star goaltender Brian Leitza made his debut at the
All-Star Skills Competition a memorable one. The Competition held in Little
Rock, Arkansas, where Leitza played in 1998-99, pitted the Northern Conference All-Stars against the Southern Conference.
The Lake Villa, Illinois native was the only All-Star goaltender to stop all
10 shots in the Rapid Fire event. He then stopped five of six shooters in
the Breakaway Relay event.
“It was great,” Leitza said. “It’s an honor to play anywhere in an All-Star
Game, but I got to come back to where I met my fiancee, and some people remembered me and asked for autographs. It was nice.”
The Southern Conference won the event 15-5.
Leitza is scheduled to play the second period of tonight’s ECHL All-Star
Classic at the ALLTEL Arena in Little Rock. The game will be telecast by
ESPN2 at noon Wednesday, Feb. 14.
The Kingfish will be back in action this Friday when they take on the Louisiana IceGators at the Cajundome in Lafayette at 7:35 p.m. The Fish then
host the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Saturday at 7:05 and the Jackson Bandits onSunday at 5:05 p.m. at the Riverside Centroplex
